  • The administrative Tools folder is in fact a sub-folder of the Documents and 'Settings\AllUsers\Start Menu\Programs' folder, but dragging it or moving it around your computer might cause it to stop functioning. To add the Administrative Tools icon to the desktop, follow these steps:

    1. Click on the Start button and select Run
    2. Type in 'regedit' and press OK
    3. Look for this string:
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace
    4. In the right pane, right-click and select 'New->Key'
    5. Name the key '{D20EA4E1-3957-11d2-A40B-0C5020524153}'
    6. Close the Registry editor

There is no need to reboot your computer. Just wait a few seconds and the icon will appear.

  • To configure the Command Prompt in Windows Server 2003, do the following:

    1. Open Command Prompt

There are a number of reasons why you may want to reduce or turn this feature off, particularly if your computer is not connected to the Internet. You can choose to disable the reporting completely, or you can limit it to just the operating system errors or, just errors from certain programs of your choosing. To turn off the Error Reporting feature in Windows Server 2003 do the following:

  • Shutdown Event Tracker provides a way for IT professionals to consistently track why users restart or shut down their computers. To disable Shutdown Event Tracker perform the following steps:

    1. Open Group Policy, then load the group policy you want to apply the change to
